MAN OF STEEL.
Zack Sneider, one of the most talented
director of last generation, takes the responsability of play once
again the story of Superman, after just seven years since Bryan
Singer's version. For this occasion he choses the reboot solution,
very frequent nowadays.
If it's not possible to subvert the
structure of the story, Snyder decides to compose in a different way
the events of Clark Kent's life, threw an interesting scheme of
flashbacks and introducing just in the beginning the key enemy of the
movie. It seems reasonable the fact that the first idea was to change the
point of view upon a story known alla over the world, giving instead
to the viewer a narration starting far from the main character and
reaching him in medias res,
when the enemy is just ready for the battle. The problem is that, as
the Bill from the Tarantino movie tells, Superman is not a human
being; he doesn't decide to become Superman, and we don't know who he
is (and what he can do) at the beginning, but we discover it at the
same time he discovers himself . However when you can just have a look to
his adolescence threw some flashbacks, and your point of view is not
the same of Superman for at least thirty minutes, there can't be
fascination.
Furthermore
also the central theme of Superman's dilemma between human beings and
Krypton people is shown more by words than images, with dialogues
that become redundant in this way.
The
final result of this reboot is lack of fascination; also when the
movie becomes full of action the viewing is only spectacular, no
sentiment in it. And Superman's shout, at the end, echoes in a mind already far away from theater.
